August Newsletter

Dear Friends,

August is a threshold to me.

The gardens are overflowing. The sun still lingers well into the evening, yet there is something in the air that whispers change. The first hints of autumn arrive quietly—I have noticed a tree with changing colors and some early perennials are starting to turn brown. August arrives, not asking us to rush summer away, but inviting us to notice all that has grown.

I’ve been learning that healing has seasons too.

One of the biggest shifts for me has simply been saying the words out loud: I had a stroke. Receiving a diagnosis of fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) has changed the way I move through the world. There are physical pieces to heal, neurological pieces to heal, emotional pieces to heal, and perhaps most importantly, there is the work of trusting my body again.

Some days that feels graceful.
Some days it feels messy.

Healing isn’t linear, and I’m realizing that I am not only someone who guides others along their path—I am walking one too.

Maybe that’s what makes this community so special.

We aren’t gathering because anyone has it all figured out.

We gather because we are willing to show up exactly where we are.

🌿 Rooting Into August

If you have a few quiet moments this month, step outside.

Stand barefoot on the earth.

Feel her beneath you.

Instead of imagining yourself sending roots down, imagine the earth rising up to meet you. Let her strength move through your feet, your legs, your heart.

Notice what softens when you stop trying to hold yourself up alone.

Take one slow breath.

Then another.

Sometimes healing begins simply by remembering you belong here.

🌾 Lammas Reflection

Lammas is the first harvest.

It asks us to pause before rushing toward what’s next.

To notice what has already grown.

To celebrate the seeds that became something beautiful.

And to ask another question:

What am I still carrying that there is no longer room for?

As the harvest comes in, we make space.

Not because we’re lacking.

But because every season asks something different of us.

A Blessing for August

May you recognize how far you’ve already come.

May you celebrate the quiet harvests that no one else can see.

May you release what no longer nourishes you with gratitude instead of guilt.

May the earth remind you that every season has purpose, every ending makes room for a beginning, and healing is allowed to unfold one breath at a time.

With gratitude,

Monica
